Profile

The origins of the Venetian mirror go back to the Renaissance, a time when Venice already excelled in the production of mirrors and the skilled working of glass. In the early twentieth century Romano Tosi known as "Mammaracio", having left his trade as a master glassmaker, dedicated himself to the art of the Venetian mirror. His skill and passion have been passed on to the present generation in a young versatile firm able to blend tradition and a refreshing capacity for ingenious ideas. The dedication of the Fratelli Tosi shows in the very special care they take over all of their production. The special features of these mirrors and hallmark of their superior market standards are the quality of the silvering made using pure silver, the skill and precision of the entirely hand-worked engravings and finishings, the wide range and brilliance of their colours and the care taken over the last stages of assembling. Only through the careful and calculated respect for these features can a Venetian mirror be obtained, and the Fratelli Tosi take pride in their claim to do so. Increasingly aware of the need to combine tradition and innovation, the Fratelli Tosi production also extends to a splendid range of gift objects.
